Judge Alistair McCreath at London’s Southwark Crown Court announced the verdict on Tuesday, after Denning was found guilty of 40 offences against 24 boys aged nine to 16 during the 1960s to the 1980s.
According to the testimonies of the victims, the assaults took place in several locations, including Denning’s home and his computer game shop in the southern city of Poole in Dorset county as well as Savile’s house.
“You used your own fame, your acquaintance with others who were famous – many of them now to be described more as notorious than as famous – your familiarity with the music industry, your possession of computers and computer games and other devices to win their trust and misplaced admiration,” said Alistair.
“It is not to be forgotten that all of this suffering was inflicted by you without thought for anything other than your own selfish pleasure,” Alistair added.
During the trial, Denning pleaded guilty in August to 29 of the counts against him but refused to admit guilt on the remaining ones.
Denning was arrested in June 2013 under Operation Yewtree, which was set up after hundreds of allegations of abuse against Savile emerged following his death in 2011.
Denning has previously served a number of jail terms in the UK, the Czech Republic and Slovakia for sexual offences involving young boys.
