Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem insisted on reaching a serious agreement to elect a new president soon, reiterating that the movement would throw its weight behind a presidential candidate that has an honorable profile and holds patriotic positions.
Sheikh Qassem further emphasized that the new president must believe in sovereignty, resistance, and state-building, adding, "In such a case, he would reject the foreign intervention, believe in liberating the occupied territories as well as in the fact that 'Israel' is an enemy, and protect public welfares."
He also maintained that the political and security stability in Lebanon proves the validity of Hezbollah’s positions.
Sheikh Qassem went on to congratulate the Palestinian nation for the reconciliation agreement reached between Fatah and Hamas movements.
