Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says it has busted a major terrorism and sabotage network with links to foreign spy agencies in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan.

The IRGC received information that foreign-affiliated intelligence services have organized and dispatched an operational team to Iran to carry out acts of terror and sabotage inside the country.

IRGC forces managed to arrest the terrorists in Khuzestan Province in the first days of the new Persian calendar year by carrying out complex intelligence operations and through monitoring the terrorist group’s activities outside Iranian borders.

The arrested terrorists, who are supported by foreign intelligence services, reportedly entered Iran with intent to carry out bombings, terrorist operations and other acts of sabotage in certain important locations in order to cause insecurity and panic in the country.

The IRGC has also seized the equipment these terrorists intended to use including sticky and roadside bombs, and communication equipment.

The terrorists have confessed to having links to intelligence agencies backed by trans-regional enemies of Iran.
