Addressing a group of Iranian lawmakers on Monday, Rouhani called for the development of the Islamic Republic’s relations with world countries.
“There is no doubt that regional and international relations must be developed based on dignity, wisdom and pragmatism in order to be able to resolve problems as soon as possible using all the potentials.”
The Iranian president noted that the implementation of Tehran’s nuclear agreement with the six world powers can help resolve many issues, adding, “However, the root causes of many problems are domestic and many of them do not have short-term solutions.”
Iran and the six major world powers sealed an interim nuclear agreement in Geneva on November 24. Under the Geneva deal, the six world powers agreed to lift some of the existing sanctions against the Islamic Republic in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period.
It was also agreed that no more sanctions would be imposed on Iran within this timeframe.
