The General Assembly meeting will open at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday.
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani will also travel to New York on September 22 to attend the meeting of the UN General Assembly, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech on September 24.
Zarif said on September 4 that Rouhani will also deliver a speech to a nuclear disarmament conference in New York as well as to a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states.
Iran currently holds the rotating presidency of the NAM.
While the Iranian foreign minister had served in a former capacity at Iran’s UN Mission from 2002 to 2007, it will be President Rouhani’s first visit to the US to attend the UN event.
