The president delivered the report during a Sunday Iftar ceremony hosted by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
According to Iran Daily newspaper, Ahmadinejad stressed that his administration scored major successes compared with the achievements of the past governments.
He noted that the achievements were made despite ‘foreign pressure and organized propaganda’ against the government.
Referring to sanctions imposed against Iran, the president said that the embargoes reduced 50 percent of oil revenues and limited the transaction of foreign currency during the past two years.
Due to the government’s efforts, the ranking of Iran’s human development in the UN reached 76 last year, the president said.
He noted that life expectancy also increased from 70.2 years in 2005 to 73.2 years in 2012.
Welfare level
Ahmadinejad also said that the level of welfare also increased due to the jump in the number of cars and durable electric appliances used by the people.
According to the report by the International Monetary Fund, Iranians’ purchasing power rose from $9,144 in 2005 to $12,623, he said.
The president said that the production of science in all fields has witness a multi-fold growth across the country.
He noted that the government developed nuclear energy and space programs.
ISI essays
The number of ISI essays Iran presented to Intercollegiate Studies Institute also increased from 5,582 to 26,956 in the past eight years.
Referring to projects by the government to create jobs in the country, he said that unemployment rate stood at approximately 11.4 percent since 2005.
Ahmadinejad also noted that the government also provided more than 40 million Iranians with ‘justice stocks’ and distributed the interests among the people.
The president said that his administration developed programs to distribute the country’s revenues among people and to make them wealthier.
Subsidy reform plan
Referring to the government subsidy reform plan launched in 2010, he said that the plan is one of the major economic schemes that helped better consumption of energy and distribution of wealth among Iranians.
Ahmadinejad said the number of shareholders during his presidency also increased to 7.2 million people from 4.3 million in 2005.
The stock index of Tehran bourse also jumped to 54,000 units from 946 units in 2005, placing it among the top stock markets in the world.
He noted that the international debts of government declined to $15.9 billion from $41.9 billion in 2005.
He noted that nearly $13 billion was invested in Iran during 1979-2004. But, the country absorbed $25.1 billion investments during the past eight years, he added.
Foreign trade also reached to $635 billion during 2005-12, showing a 3.2-fold increase compared with the figure for 1997-2004.
Non-oil exports reached to $171.3 billion during 2005-2012, compared with $38 billion in 1979-2004.
Ahmadinejad will hand over presidency to his successor president-elect Hassan Rohani next month.
Rohani’s swearing-in is scheduled to be held on August 4, one day after he is endorsed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Iran’s president-elect secured an outright victory in the June 14 presidential election with 50.7 percent of the votes.
