US intelligence agencies have assessed that as early as 2015, Iran will be set to test an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), that has the capability to strike the United States, claimed a Pentagon report, according to the British newspaper Daily Mail.
“Iran has ballistic missile and space launch development programs, and continues to attempt to increase the range, lethality, and accuracy of its ballistic missile force,” states the assessment produced by the Department of Defense’s National Air and Space Intelligence Center.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.
Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is based entirely on deterrence.
