The Leader said in a Saturday message that the great nation of Iran is the real winner of the election, adding that Friday's vote foiled the plots of all ill-wishers of the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei also stressed that the president-elect is the president of all the Iranian people and that cooperation and friendship must now replace the rivalry of campaigning days.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added that the elections were yet another landmark test that revealed the Iranian nation’s resolve.

Ayatollah Khamenei also thanked all other presidential candidates for entering the race, and said their participation contributed to the electoral fervor and creation of an exciting competition.

Hassan Rohani emerged the victor in Iran's 11th presidential election marked by a high voter turnout. He won 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 valid ballots counted, with 18,613,329 votes.

Rohani currently represents the Leader in the Supreme National Security Council, and is a member of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts. He is also President of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research.
