Since a protest in Syria turned to an all out war supported by the West and some Arab countries, a number of fake charity foundations in Saudi Arabia have been asking people to donate money for helping Syrian people.
Though there have been some well-known people supporting these groups, there is no sign of that money reaching to Syrians.
There are media reports of protests to the government for its poor supervision over these frauds.
The Saudi government had previously announced that unofficial bodies are banned from collecting financial help for Syrians but in practice fake institutions have been freely stealing money from people without any restrictions from the government.
Saudi Arabia is one of the main supporters of the anti-government insurgents who are fighting in Syria to topple the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
Saudi government is the second biggest provider of arms to the militant groups in Syria, which stands after Qatar which according to reports has spent more than 3 billion dollars to help insurgents, just between start of 2011 to end of 2012.
Several Arab countries had pledged help to Syrian refugees but World Health Organization representative to Syria said on April that no such helps have been received from these countries.
WHO representative to Syria, Elizabeth Hoff, said they continue to provide aid to people with help of Syrian volunteers.
