Araqchi is due to leave Tehran for Ankara on Thursday for a one-day visit at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Zeki Levent Gumrukcu.
Araqchi , who is also Iran’s deputy foreign minister for Asia and Oceania, is expected to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu during his trip.
On May 10, Turkish lawmaker Yusuf Halacoglu said that close cooperation between Iran and Turkey is the key to resolving crucial issues in the Middle East.
Halacoglu, who is a member of Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group, said that Turkey and Iran are the only two regional countries capable of defeating the imperialist powers’ plots aimed at controlling the rich oil resources of the Middle East and Central Asia.
According to official data, released in November 2012, Iran was the third major trade partner of Turkey in the first three quarters of the year.
