Mehmanparast made the remarks in response to the annual report of the US State Department leveling baseless accusations about the status of human rights in Iran.
“Adopting a double-standard policy on the issue of human rights is not a new issue and it has turned into a political procedure in the US,” he noted.
He also referred to numerous human rights violations by the US including the support for terrorist group of Mujahedin-e Khalq (MKO) and removing its name from its list of terrorists, setting up illegal detention centers including Guantanamo prison, torture cases and merciless carnage of civilians in various parts of the world such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He also added that the abduction of different nationals and transferring them to a third country, violence against immigrants and their families, widening of social gaps, suppression of Wall Street social movement and abuse of Muslims as part of islamophobia are among other instances of human rights violations by the US government.
