The drone, which some media reports suspected of belonging to Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, was flying at an altitude of about 1,800 meters and was downed roughly eight kilometers off the coast near Haifa.
Israeli military spokesman Peter Lerner, said their naval forces were searching for the remains of the aircraft.
Hezbollah, however, announced in a statement that it did not send any drone into Israeli air space.
A senior Lebanese security official speaking on condition of anonymity said that Lebanon had no information on Thursday's incident.
