Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said the country has held negotiations with the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) for cooperation in the field of quantum technology.

(tasnim) -- Speaking at the First National Conference on Quantum Technology in Tehran on Sunday, Salehi highlighted Iran’s scientific progress in the area of modern technologies and said the country is not far behind leading countries in the field of quantum technology.

He said that with the nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Islamic Republic has joined the Euratom club.

The nuclear chief also said that the AEOI is in talks with Europeans to boost cooperation in quantum technology.

Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of the comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.

The JCPOA terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
