Fighters loyal to the Libyan UN-backed government continued to make progress against Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL) terrorist group militants in the coastal town of Sirte on Thursday.
Pro-government fighters are scouted the liberated areas and they said they discovered how ISIS fighters are managing to maintain their battle, with their use of field hospitals and trenches that connect buildings from underneath.
ISIS militants are occupying a gradually shrinking residential area in the town.
Sirte has seen intense fighting in the last few months between government forces and ISIS group fighters, who gained a foothold in the country following the power struggle and security vacuum left in the wake of the downfall of Moammar Gadhafi’s regime in 2011.
