The Syrian Armed Forces begins the offensive by storming the key hilltop of Tal Sawwan; this resulted in a fierce battle that ended with the Islamic State terrorists retreating eastward in order to avoid getting overrun by the Syrian Tank Division and their allies.

Following the liberation of Tal Sawwan, the 11th Tank Division and their allies launched a powerful assault at Point 901 near the aforementioned hilltop.

The Syrian Arab Army's 11th Tank Division and their allies would seize Point 901 after a short battle with theISIS militants that were retreating from Tal Sawwan.

According to a military source in Palmyra (Tadmur) , the primary objective of this offensive is to recapture the Al Shaer Mountains that have been under the control of the ISIS terrorist Group since late July.
