Director of the movie “Muhammad: The Messenger of God” Majid Majidi challenges the university professors of Egypt’s Al-Azhar “what the real reaction against the West’s insults to Holy Prophet of Islam is,” Al-Alam News Network reports.

In response to the boycott of watching the movie “Muhammad: The Messenger of God” by the university professors of Egypt’s Al-Azhar, Majidi the director of the movie said: “I believe that they judged early, too early. That’s because you did not watch the movie, how do you judge when you did not watch the movie? Islamic culture has given us about something you are not sure about it, do not judge. I request Al-Azhar professors and all oppositions to watch the movie first, then we can discuss it.”

“They have accused us of showing the Holy Prophet's face. I have repeatedly stated, and especially now that the movie is finished and everybody is able to watch it, no images of the Holy Prophet of Islam are not shown, even in his childhood,” Majidi added.

Majidi continued: “I would like to ask this question from Al-Azhar University professors: What is the correct reaction against the West’s attacks to the Holy Prophet of Islam like drawing caricatures or making insulting movies about the Holy Prophet’s life? Should we come to the streets to show our protests and violence? We have to wait to insult Islam and then become angry? What is the responsibility of the Islamic World to show the real face of the Holy Prophet of Islam?”

“In today’s modern world, all developed countries, including the United States, present their faith, political, social and cultural issues through cinema” Majidi emphasized.

“Unfortunately, Egypt’s Al-Azhar University opposition to the movie is political, not based on a religious belief” Majidi said.

“Saudi Arabia has always been completely indifferent to the problems of the Islamic world, such as Palestine and did not show any reaction. And in these days, the Saudis bombard the Yemeni civilians. Does Saudi Arabia have the competence to comment on the movie “Muhammad: The Messenger of God”?” Majidi added.

“All my efforts as an artist was to show the correct reading of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but unfortunately they want to put an obstacle in front of this action,” Majidi reiterated.
