Iran’s Deputy FM Amir-Abdollahian dismissed Bahraini FM’s allegations over Iran’s involvement in recent terrorist attack in the country, advising the official to play a positive role in regional security, Al-Alam News Network reports.

Iranian Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, while condemning the recent terror attack in the Island of Sitra, the southern part of the Bahraini capital of Manama that led to the death of two police officers, rejected the Bahraini foreign minister’s claims on Iran’s involvement in the attack and that the Sunni ISIL militants and Shia Muslims share the same nature.

“Spreading such false news and the continuation of leveling allegations against Iran are completely purposeful, especially with the start of Iranian foreign minister’s constructive and positive regional tour that carries the best of messages for the region,” said Amir-Abdollahian on Thursday.

The Iranian official expressed deep lament over the 'sectarian' behavior of some extremist elements within the Bahraini government and their deliberate insulting of Muslim’s religious beliefs that has led to a wide gap between the government and the people.

“We advise the Bahraini foreign minister to stop provoking and encouraging religious conflicts in his country and the region, and instead start to play a more positive and constructive role toward the collective security of the region and the establishment of national reconciliation between the government and its people,” said the Iranian official.

Amir-abdollahian, while noting that Tehran only welcomes a political strategy toward the Bahraini issue, warned that the continuation of suppressions, systematic violation of human rights and tightening security procedures will further complicate the situation in that country.

Two Bahraini police officers were killed and a third one was seriously injured in the blast in the Island of Sitra on Tuesday, according to Bahrain’s Interior Ministry.

Following the attack, the Bahraini state media propaganda claimed that the explosives used were similar to those recently seized by security forces after allegedly being smuggled from Iran.

Iran has strongly dismissed the 'baseless' accusations and said such claims are aimed at preventing any progress in cooperation between Iran and the Persian Gulf states.
