A 6-foot-long (1.8 meters) alligator has made an unwelcome appearance at a Walmart supermarket in Florida.

The reptile stopped in the store' entrance on Sunday morning, causing the automatic doors to open and close until employees locked them.

"We were inside just picking up a few things for tomorrow and someone inside said there's an alligator at the door," said customer Robin Watkins.

"Of course, curious people, we came out and it was right against the door," she added.

"I mean, you could see it. It was probably five-, almost six-foot-long. It was a nice size gator, just chillin'.

"Apopka police officers reportedly tried to lure the gator away as customers gathered to watch and snap pictures.

The gator took off towards nearby woods. Officers scoured the area but couldn't find it. No one was injured.
